Back to School

Today was Proud Boy's first day of school.
He said he wasn't at all nervous; he said he was actually pretty excited. But the closer we got to the playground, the more he dragged his feet. Eventually he stopped altogether. Then he turned tail and ran. I found him like this, staring at the waves on a small wharf just behind his old barnehage.
He still insisted he wasn't nervous,
said he just wanted to wait for Daddy.
And so we did.
After that one tiny hiccup, he was great.
He didn't hesitate to go up to get his name tag when he was called.
When his teacher asked if he could count to 10,
he confidently announced that he could count to 110!
(a blatant lie)
Tomorrow he has to navigate the busses to and from school.
But he'll have EM with him, so I don't anticipate any big problems there.
So that's it then.
Looks like my days are my own again.
For a while at least.

I have found the best way to give advice to your children is to find out what they want and then advise them to do it. The trick is convincing Daniel wanted to go to school, and it looks like you did a very good job.

I thought that was actually a photo of him vomitting over the side into the water - glad to see the caption read otherwise!

First day of school - so exciting and new! He will have more cute stories to tell you now, and can't wait to hear the funny tidbits!

What a sweet story! I love the stories about your sweet lil man since often he reminds me of Patrick's sweet nature.

BTW, we miss you on the board. I promise that therapy has helped me. LOL!~Come back!

Awwww bless him. Big hugs on your first day D. We have Hamish's first day tomorrow but unlike 'Boy', he goes to a completely different school from his pre-school, although at least this time there will be boys!

I have a horrible feeling in my gut that he's not going to want to go in...worst nightmare.

BTW trying to wangle a business trip to Norway in the next couple of weeks, can I come stay?

Oh,

How sweet. Did you have a lump in your throat and did a tear form at the corner of your eye when he was so brave to do what was expected of him. No ?, well I DID !! Such a sweet boy.
I am sure he is going to be fine.

Hallo! What a sweet post about such a big day for your beautiful boy. I'm with Trace in that I thought he was puking over the edge of that pier. Not that there's anything wrong with that. ;-)

I've just spent much quality time with your blog and it made me smile big time. Thank you for that! You're a good writer, Jeda. I got a huge kick out of your description of the visit from the feier---hilarious! Looking forward to hanging out here. :-)

Ahhhh so sweet. My youngest boy starts a new school this year as well. But in the UK they only start in September.

Such a big thing in their little worlds....
